The goal of this workshop is to introduce participants to the development of interactive web applications using Shiny in R. The workshop helps participants understand what Shiny is, how it enables the creation of interactive dashboards and data-exploration tools, and how applications are structured. Participants learn key concepts such as reactive programming, the architecture of Shiny applications, and how user inputs and outputs interact to produce dynamic visualizations and analytical tools.
More broadly, the workshop aims to build participants’ capacity to design, develop, and deploy Shiny applications that support data analysis, communication, and decision-making. Through hands-on exercises, participants progressively build applications, starting from minimal Shiny apps and moving toward more advanced tools that may include spatial operations and production considerations. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to create, debug, and adapt their own interactive applications to support scientific, environmental, or data-driven projects.
